Within symbol AAC, examine vocabulary, layout, access method and how a person can build original messages. Within text AAC, examine typing, phrase access, speech controls and the available voices. Within scripting, examine whether wording can be adapted and whether the situations match your life. Storefronts, suppliers and assessment services are useful routes to products, but they are not themselves equivalent apps.
A practical example
At a café, someone might use symbols to make an original request, type a sentence to be spoken or refer to a note before speaking. Do not judge the quality of the interaction by how closely it resembles unaided speech.
